Scott Lyon entered the building business in 1975 when he participated in the construction of the Brandywine Inn, located West of Dixon, IL.
Ten years, 48 custom homes, numerous light commercial projects and one “Ronald Reagan boyhood home” restoration later, Scott sold his share of Viking Builders, Inc. and moved to Mancos, CO. The next 6 years resulted in a thriving Raynor garage door distributorship. Scott sold Southwest Raynor Door, Inc in 1992 and reentered the Custom home building business with his wife Petra, as partner. Shortly after returning - as Mountain Lyon Enterprises, Inc., a Precision Craft Log Structures project presented itself and Mountain Lyon completed its first log home.

As of 2002, 24 custom homes (roughly half stick built and half log built) have been successfully completed in S.W. Colorado. Now a resident of Durango, CO Scott continues to strive for the quality and satisfaction of building he discovered 27 years ago.

“I can truthfully say I wouldn’t change much had I the chance to do it all over again. The people I have been lucky enough to meet – owners, subcontractors, trades, financiers and suppliers – have become the most interesting friends and acquaintances. For them and for people I have yet to meet, I strive to do my best and will enjoy the journey along the way.”
